Why Can't Draw-Tite Heavy Duty Weld-On Truck Hitch be Used with Weight Distribution
Question:
Why cant you use a Weight Distribution ball mount with this hitch ?

Expert Reply:
Draw-Tite hitch # 41990-07 has not been rated for or tested with weight distribution and because of that the manufacturer places a "not for use with weight distribution" warning on the hitch. This is common for weld-on truck hitches.
We do have Class IV custom fit hitches for the 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 that are rated for weight distribution such as Curt hitch # C14006. When used with weight distribution it is rated for 1,200 pounds tongue weight and 12,000 pounds gross trailer weight. There are only 2 versions of the 2016 Silverado 1500 that can tow that much: 2-wheel drive double cab standard box models with the 6.2 liter motor and 3.42 rear end gear ratio and 2-wheel drive crew cab short box models with the 6.2 liter motor and 3.42 rear end. So this Curt hitch covers the capacities of all versions of the 2016 Silverado 1500.
