Troubleshooting Pro Series Pilot Brake Controller Brake Pedal Function
Question:
My Accu Power Pilot brake controller has worked great for years. Now the manual slide control will indicate as high as 13 when the gain wheel is turned to max but when pressing the brake pedal it will only get to 2.5 - not enough for my trailer. When I set the gain to 4.0 normal strength needed for my trailer when using the manual slide, the brake pedal will only achieve .3. Both methods of activating the brake always use to show the same signal strength until now. What could be wrong?

It appears you either have a brake light wire that is going bad or your brake controller may need replaced. I recommend using a multimeter like # PT89ZR and check your reading on the cold side of your brake switch coming into your brake controller. If the reading is accurate on your brake controller, then there is a wire that needs replaced somewhere. You will want to trace that wire and replace it where you find the issue. If the voltage coming out of that switch is different than your controller, it is time to replace the controller.
You can get the Pro Series Pilot 2-6 Brake Electronic Brake Controller - Time Delayed # 80550 as a replacement if you like that controller.
