Finding Or Adding A 12V Power Wire For 7-Way Trailer Connection On 2016 Ford F-150
Question:
Im installing my Hopkins 37185 which I purchased from your site. I found the blue trailer brake signal wire and spliced into it by the factory wire harness. I followed an install vid on a 2013 F150 on your website and it shows the blue wire and a red wire for the 12v signal. There isnt a red wire along wih the blue for the power wire on my truck. Does a 2016 have a different color for the 12v power or do I have to run a seperate 12v power source?

I recommend testing your wires using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 for power. Make sure your truck has the running lights off and test the wires around the blue wire you found for constant power, go by function not color. If you don't find one, because the other functions should not draw power, you will need to run a wire to the battery. You can use # 10-1-1 along with 40 amp circuit breaker # 9510 for this connection. If you will have a separate battery on your trailer, you may want to also add the Battery Isolation Solenoid # PK5231201 so your trailer battery won't draw power from your vehicle battery when the ingnition is turned off.
