Fifth Wheel Hitch Info for Towing a 2007 Forest River Signature with a 2009 GMC Sierra 5-1/2 Ft Bed

Information about getting the right fifth wheel hitch for my 2009 gmc sierra 5.5 truck, I am installing a 2007 forest river rockwood signature fifth wheel rv.

For your 2009 GMC Sierra 5-1/2 Ft Bed pickup, I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 20,000 lbs, item # RP30928, along with the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit, item # RP50064-58.
You will then need a Sidewinder pin box for your 2007 Forest River Signature Fifth-Wheel RV, so that you can tow the RV and have clearance for turning between the trailer loft and the cab of the vehicle. Slider hitches do not provide sufficient clearance for maneuvering with trucks that have beds shorter than 6 feet long, and also cause interference with the tailgate when moved rearward in many cases.
Sidewinders are pin box specific. You will need the specific pin box make and model number from your RV to determine the correct sidewinder pin box for your trailer. We have an online article, see link, that shows how to select the correct Sidewinder pin box and it has a chart to help select the correct parts.
You could also take measurements to determine the correct Sidewinder turret that will bolt to your trailer. I have posted a picture for you to show the measurements that need to be taken. If you can replace the numbers on the drawing in the photo with the measurements for your pin box we can determine the correct sidewinder for your trailer.
You should also contact the manufacturer of your RV to determine if a Sidewinder pin box can be used on your trailer.
