Recommended Trailer Tires to Replace 195/75 R14 Sized Passenger Tires on a Trailer

Question:

My mom has a 4x6 I think enclosed trailer she uses for work. One of the tires is getting pretty bad and I seen she has passenger tires on it. I know she needs trailer tires Im just not sure what to put on for her. I the tires on it are p195/75r14. I would assume she needs ST205/75r14 but how do I know if she will have the clearance for them?

Yes, ST205/75 R14 will be the closest size trailer tire that we carry. If she does have the clearance, I suggest the Provider # TR20514.

To determine if she can use the larger tire, you'll need to do a little measuring. You want to have at least 3 inches between the tread and underside of the fender as well as 2 inches or so between the tire's sidewall and the inside of the wheel well.

The larger tire will add about 2/3 of an inch to an inch more diameter as well as about a 1/4 inch of width.

If she doesn't have the clearance, it would be better to go with a 13-inch rim. If this is necessary, let me know the bolt pattern and I'll recommend a wheel and tire combination that will be a good fit.
