Wiring Harness to Install Primus Brake Controller in a 2013 Chevy Silverado
Question:
I purchased a Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller for my Nissan Titan a few years ago. I sold my truck and gave my brother my controller for his 2013 Chevy 1500 Silverado. Is there a wiring harness that plugs into a plug under his dash for this controller? If not can I purchase another universal harness that comes with the controller? I can not find the one that came with mine. All I have is the Nissan wiring harness. Thanks

The 2013 Chevy Silverado has a tow package wire bundle under the dash, to the left of the steering column, held together with a white tag. The brake controller can be hardwired to that wire bundle. If you do not have the original harness you will need a replacement, # 20127, to plug into the back of the Primus # TK90160.
Using the above mentioned wire bundle on the vehicle the white ground wire goes to the white wire on the controller. The red truck wire goes to the black controller wire. Dark blue on the truck goes to blue on the controller. And light blue or orange from the truck goes to the red wire on the controller.
There may also be some connections that will need to be made under the hood to make everything fully functional. I have included a link to a help article explaining these connections.
