Recommended Platform Bike Rack to Use on an RV

Question:

Hi, interested in te xc2 for our motor home. Your web site on this product does not seem to recommend it ror motor homes, why? We have a 26 ft class A and it appears to fit. I realize, that I may have to turn the handle bar at an angle so that it will clear the rear panel. Are there other issues I need to consider? Thanks

The long wheelbase of a motorhome causes a lot of movement at the back end which will put a lot of stress on a bike rack. Some bike racks are designed to withstand the extra stress but the Swagman XC # S64650 is unfortunately not one of them.

Instead I recommend the Swagman Dispatch # S44FR. It's another platform rack that Swagman does approve behind an RV. It uses wheel cradles to hold the bikes and it includes locks to secure the bike to the rack and the rack to the RV's hitch.
