Recommendation to Tow 5th-Wheel Trailer with 2016 Ram 2500 with Ram Box
Question:
Hello, I need help! So I just purchased Ram 2500 with ram boxes. It didnt come with the under bed puck system for gooseneck or 5th wheel. I would like to install this kit but cant find the kit I could go to the dealer. I like the clean look in the bed. I have a BandW companion with the turnover ball which I was going to install but read a post on here stating that the BandW turn over system is not recommended with the sidewinder. What would you all recommend?

I may have a solution for you, however the issue with the Ram Box on your 2016 Ram 2500 is that is that it puts the rails of the bed too close together and it causes interference with the pin box of the trailer when turning corners.
While Sidewinder has not officially said that you can use a Sidewinder with a Ram Box, we have talked with several customers that state that with a Sidewinder pin box they were able to tow a fifth wheel trailer. Sidewinders move the pivot point higher so the Ram Box wouldn't interfere. Based on your question it sounds like your trailer already has a Sidewinder installed.
Also, as you referenced in your question, the B&W Companion Hitches are not compatible with Sidewinder or Revolution king pins because they can not be used with any device that changes the pivot point of the trailer's king pin.
If you do decide to tow a 5th-wheel trailer with your truck, you can use a fixed trailer hitch like the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16115 along with the Custom Installation Kit # C16430-204 with the Sidewinder Pin Box on your trailer. You would just need to add the Sidewinder Wedge # C16991 that will bolt onto the Sidewinder pin box to prevent the king pin from rotating in the hitch.
