Arrow Stick And Controller Wiring Connected To 7-Way Trailer Connector On Truck
Question:
I do traffic control and have a arrow stick with controller but Im wanting to make it portable to set on my tailgate. Its has 3 wires, red- positive, black negative and yellow- ground. Is it possible to put a trailer plug on the end so I can get power from the 4 flat or 7? And which wires do you connect to which?

Yes you can use the Tow Ready Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole Vehicle End Trailer Connector # 30717. You can run the 12V positive and negative from your battery and connect them to the black wire (positive 12V) and the yellow wire (accessory) for your negative. The ground will be your white ground. You will need to run wiring and a relay for your 12V power and negative and can do that with kit # 5506. You will only need the 40 amp circuit breaker but the wiring is actually less expensive in the kit and comes with terminals and the breaker.
I've attached a picture for you so you can see the 7-way wiring locations for you to connect your equipment. I recommend the Optronics 7-Way Round RV Style Trailer Connector - Trailer Side # A7WCB to connect your arrow stick and controller.
For mounting, I recommend the Draw-Tite Mounting Bracket for 7-Way # 18138 and the No-Drill Mount Bracket, # C57202.
