Troubleshooting 4-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness with No Left Turn or Brake Lights
Question:
The left turn signal on my 06 Holiday Rambler quit working. I ran a wire directly from the tail light blinker to the thawed vehicle connection. How do I get the brake signal to this new wire? I purchased a #56208 wiring kit. Everything works except the left brake light.

Since after your installation of Curt 4-pole wiring harness kit # C56208 all trailer light functions work except for the left turn signal I suggest you first check the condition of the electrical contacts inside that driver-side taillight plug. Something as simple as a contact that is slightly bent or a connector that is not quite fully seated together could cause the issue. Check both the vehicle and harness connectors.
If you have a circuit tester like # PTW2993 you can test the trailer connector on the Jeep (without the trailer connected) by applying the tester to the pin for the 4-pole's yellow wire. This yellow wire carries both left turn and left brake signals to the trailer. Have a helper engage the left turn signal while you test; you should detect an on-and-off blinking signal. The brake being pressed should result in a steady-on signal as long as the pedal is pressed.
With a 12V battery you can test the trailer by itself (when not connected to the vehicle) by applying power to the trailer's connector for the left turn. If the light works when powered directly you know the issue is upstream of the trailer.
If you test the yellow wire going INTO the converter (on the left side) and there is a signal going in, but no signal on the right-hand output side then the harness is damaged and should be replaced.
