The 1992 Chevy C/K Series 1500 did not come with a port for a brake controller. Instead, you will need to hard wire the brake controller by first installing a 4-Way, # 118315, and then installing a 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. If the Truck already has a 4-Way, then you will not need the 118315. I have included a link to the installation details and a video below showing installation of an ETBC7 kit.

If your truck already has a functioning 7-Way, you can use a length of wire # 10-1-1, sold in 1 foot increments, and attach one end to the pin in the 7 oclock position on the back of the 7-Way and the other end to the blue wire on the brake controller. Then, attach a length of wire from the brake controller black wire, through the fire wall, and to the positive battery terminal via a 30 amp circuit breaker # 38630.

Attach the brake controller white wire to the negative battery terminal.

Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993on the brake switch above the brake pedal to find the wire that carries a signal ONLY when the brake pedal is pressed and connect the red brake controller wire to it.

If you do not have a brake controller I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller - Proportional, part # 90885. This brake controller is one of our best sellers because it works well and it is easy to use. I attached installation instructions and a installation video below for you to check out.
