Reattaching Rear Driver Side Panel on Honda Odyssey after Draw-Tite Max-Frame Hitch Installation
Question:
I noticed when replacing the plastic cover on the driver side after hitch installation that the rear screw will no longer reach the frame. This is because the mounting hole of the plastic cover is now displaced by the width of the hitch and plate. You really cant trim the plastic in this area as was suggested because you would be trimming away the fastening point. I prefer not to leave it off because I will be traveling on some muddy roads alot since I plan to pull a small trailer camping. Its ok though because I am just going to get a longer screw and it should be just like new. 2016 Honda Odyssey EX-L Thanks.

Some models of the 2016 Honda Odyssey do have a plastic panel covering the driver side frame, which appears to be the case on your vehicle. When installing the Draw-Tite # 75270, as you noted, you will need to remove this panel. Once the hitch is installed, you can either leave the panel off or trim it to fit and reattach. Unfortunately, like you discovered, the bolt is not long enough to reach the frame with the untrimmed panel in-between.
I did speak with my contact at Draw-Tite and they do not have any specific recommendation for putting the trim back on your vehicle, but using a longer screw like you mentioned should work.
