Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver And Weight Distribution System For 2012 Kia Sorento SX V6
Question:
Hello. I have a 2012 Kia Sorento SX V6 with the factory hitch and towing package. The factory towing specs from the manual are 3500lb and a 350lb tongue towing capacity. Im looking at a travel trailer that is under 3500lb limit but is over the tongue rating at 413lbs. I see there is a Draw-Tite hitch item 75684 that when used with a weight distribution hitch would raise the limit to 500lbs. Would this combination work for my vehicle? Thank you!

On your 2012 Kia Sorento SX V6, you can add the Draw Tite # 75684 hitch that is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. The hitch will be able to handle a weight distribution system that will give you a higher tongue weight capacity for your trailer. We know that your vehicle is able to handle the towing weight, so that won't be an issue. What I can't find is if your factory hitch is able to handle a weight distribution system so you wouldn't need to swap that out, without knowing that I do recommend the swap.
For a weight distribution system, I recommend you use the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0600. This will give you a total tongue weight of 250-600 lbs. Total tongue weight is the loaded trailer tongue weight along with any cargo behind the rear axle of your Sorento. You want that total tongue weight to be in the middle range of your weight distribution system. You will also need the hitch ball # EQ91-00-6080. This is if your Kia can handle a capacity larger than 350 lbs.
