Recommendation on a Weight Distribution System Tongue Weight 400 lbs and GTW 4000

Question:

I have a 2015 Tacoma V6, manual tranny, with tow package, quad cab, short bed towing a 2013 trailmanor 2720QB with a tongue weight of 346 plus whatever gear I will put behind the real axle maybe 100 lbs, 200 max. Trailer weight is 2742 lbs dry, say 4,000 when ready to go into the mountains. Will be towing a few times a summer in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Cant seem to settle on a weight distribution system. Please give my your recommendation.

I have a solution for you. Since you supplied some approximate weights to work with, I can give you a couple general recommendations on a weight distribution system.

Looking at the numbers you gave me, if your tongue weight will be between 450 to 550 lbs, then your going to want a tongue weight range between 400-600 lbs. At this tongue weight range, I recommend the Equalizer Weight Distribution w/ 4 Point Sway control, # EQ37060ET.

The Equalizer system has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs and a max gross trailer weight of 6,000 lbs. The Equalizer system also has a 4-point sway control system. The sway control system will limit the side-to-side trailer movement. The hitch will include a 2 inch ball and all the necessary hardware needed for installation.

A similar system, but more economically priced would be the Fastway e2 Weight System, # FA94-00-0600. The Fastway system has a range of 400-600 lbs at a gross trailer weight at 6,000 lbs. The Fastway system does not include a hitch ball. I recommend the # A-90 ball.

When finally deciding on which weight distribution system you will need, an accurate total tongue weight on your loaded and ready to tow trailer and any weight loaded behind the rear axle of the towing vehicle will be needed to make sure you will get the correct rated system.
