Trailer Hitch & Wiring for 2014 Ford Edge
Question:
Im looking for hitch and wiring for my 2014 Ford Edge sel. I see in one of the reviews Erik 7/23/14 that he added a dual plug wire mounting next to the hitch. Do you have a part number for this? Also what hitch is better, drawtite or curt?

Both Draw-Tite and Curt hitches are good quality products. While one given hitch fit may favor one brand over the other in total they both offer excellent products. Curt hitches can sometimes have a nicer powder coat finish, and since they are made in the USA they do offer that appeal.
Of the options available I suggest the Draw-Tite 2-inch Class III hitch # 75992 for its lower price and freedom from the Curt requirement of using a support strap with non-trailer loads like bike racks. Curt requires this strap # 18050 when using their hitch # C13067 with any on-wheeled load, like a bike or cargo carrier. I also suggest our handy ball mount kit # 989900.
For a 4-pole wiring harness kit you can use part # 118515, shown in the linked install video. You can convert this 4-pole flat wiring format's lighting signals to a 7-way by simply plugging in part # 37185. This includes both 4-pole and 7-way connectors, but note that only the same lighting signals from the 4-pole will be passed through to the 7-way. It will not have the additional circuits for 12V power, trailer brakes or reverse lights unless you add those additional connections. Please refer to the linked article on trailer wiring formats.
