Troubleshooting 7-Way Trailer Connector Does Not Have 12 Volt Power on a 2010 GMC Sierra

2010 seria 1/2 ton 7 prong plug has no + battery power going to trailer battery

The first thing you will want to check is the pin on the front of the 7-Way that is in the 11 o'clock position using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. If it is not showing a signal, then it could be that the 12-volt hot lead is not connected at the point under the hood.
The wire you will need is red/black and has an eyelet connected to one end. It is coiled up under the master cylinder/brake booster assembly and must be connected to the under-hood fuse box. The battery charge wire will go on the larger stud just forward of the power distribution box, and an M8 metric nut, # 185917, is required to attach the wire to the stud.
Important side note: raising the gray handle above the studs more than 3/8 of an inch will result in the fuse box becoming disconnected from the electrical connector. If disconnection occurs, you may have to consult your local GM dealership for repairs. I have included a link to an FAQ article that should help.
