Solution for No Power to the 12v blade on 7-way Connector on 1999 Ford F250 Super Duty Truck
Question:
Although the black wire is present at the harness location at the rear of my truck and my truck was supposed to have been equipped with a tow package, I dont seem to have power to maintain the battery on my dump trailer. I have the wiring to the + terminal of the trailer battery and the - terminal grounded to the frame of the trailer as has been mentioned in a number of the other QandAs. Without having power to the appropriate blade in the truck connector I am assuming that it is not maintaining the charge to the trailer battery. That certainly seems to be the case since I have to charge the trailer battery too frequently. It is a fairly new battery. I have checked in the owners manual and it seems I am missing a relay although the fuses for this purpose seems to be in the correct places. I have seen where you have suggested to run my own wire to the 7-way from the + terminal on the truck battery in combination with the Pollock circuit breaker # PK54540. If I do this as suggested, it will not cause or create any circuitry or shorts in the vehicle, correct? I am just curious if there is a way to power the existing wire to the harness since it is supposedly there for that purpose. Running my own wire seems to be bypassing or rerouting the power through another means that appears to already be present. What do you think or suggest. BTW, Ground is good because I have power at all other wires when tested. Thanks!
