How to Transport 5 Bikes on Vehicle Towed Behind Motorhome
Question:
do you have any products to allow me to use my rv to haul 5 bikes and pull my jeep behind me? i already have the jeep setup to be towed 4 down behind the rv. just need a hitch mounted 5 bike carrier solution that fits and has enough room for the jeep to make turns behind the rv without hitting the bikes.

When selecting a hitch bike rack the "host" vehicle matters a lot. Most bike racks made for use on passenger cars cannot be used on RVs. Why? On most RVs and trailers the rear hitch will be much further away from the rear axle than on a car. This longer axle-to-hitch distance means more leverage will be applied to the hitch tube from the motion of the rack. Think of the example of adding a cheater bar to a tire iron to gain more leverage to loosen a lug nut.
We do offer 5-bike hitch racks but none is rated for use on an RV. The RV-rated bike racks top out at a 4-bike capacity, such as with the Swagman Trailhead 4-Bike Rack # S63381 and their XP rack # S64940. These and all other 4-bike RV-rated racks are shown on the linked page.
