Question:

Hello, Im trying to figure out how to set up a weight distributing hitch on our boat trailer. Typical problem is that it has a tongue pole but the A frame starts pretty close about 1.5 feet. the center pole is slightly lower than the A frame and is about 3inch square frame is 5 inches tall will EQ95-01-5950 work?

Pole tongue-style trailers can use a pole tongue adapter like # RP58393 or # EQ95-01-5950 to allow installation of a weight distribution/sway control system. These adapters bolt on to the straight frame member to provide a substitute mounting point for the WD system's lift brackets. These adapters mount 29 to 30-inches back from the hitch ball. Note these carry different tongue weight ratings so be sure to select one based on your trailer's weight (TW).

Selection of a WD system should be based on the loaded trailer's measured tongue weight. The easiest way to measure is with a TW scale like # e99044 but other methods to measure are outlined in the linked article. You also need to account for the weight of anything in the truck that sits behind the rear axle since this too acts like trailer TW. If your boat trailer has surge brakes you'll want to be sure to choose a system that is compatible with them, such as the Equal-i-zer # EQ37060ET.
