Can Optronics Thin Line LED Trailer Clearance Lights Fit Base Of Lights On Snowmobile Trailer

Question:

I have a 2003 snowmobile trailer. The marker lights are a base and a Truck-Lite 2 prong bulb, #2303 red and #2294 amber. I am considering replacing the bulbs with LED versions. Would the Optronics MCL75RB and MCL75AB work in the same base? The reason I am considering this is because the trailer is drawing about 10 amps for all the tail lights 18 and the taillight converter box I just got is only rated for 6 amps and keeps shutting down. As an alternative to all new lights is there a converter box that could handle the 10 amp load? I havent seen one so far. Thanks.

I was not able to find the truck Lite 2303 or 2294 lights on their website.

You may want to consider replacing most if not all of the incandescent lights on your snowmobile trailer. Since LEDs draw about 1/10 of the power, you can certainly get the draw down a lot more than what you are doing now. We do not have a converter box for a 10-amp load as you described.

The # MCL75RB and # MCL75AB lights measure 3-15/16 inches L x 1-1/4 inches W x 7/8 inch D. and require the black base, part # A65PB or silver base part # A67CB. These lights mount on 3-inch centers and have one wire. The light is grounded through the mounting surface. I would doubt if the new lights would be able to use the base from the lights you currently have on the trailer.
