Trailer Wiring for 2016 Ford Explorer that Does Not Require Splicing Into the Vehicle's Wiring
Question:
Does the 2016 Ford Explorers come with the connections installed for a quick wiring harness. I need to install a trailer wiring harness but dont have the knowledge to do a hard wire kit.

Your 2016 Ford Explorer does include all the wiring needed to plug in a trailer connector. If you need a 4-way connector, the Tekonsha Wiring Harness # 118540 is what you can use. This plugs in to the Explorer's wiring beneath the rear of the vehicle on the passenger side.
If the trailer you're going to be towing requires a 7-way connector, the Tekonsha 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118272 is what you will need. This connects to the car at the same location the 4-way does under the rear of the vehicle.
I've included install videos of both wiring harnesses for you.
If you also need a trailer hitch I suggest the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 76034. This is a Class III, 2 inch hitch receiver that is custom made for your Explorer. It installs into the existing holes on the frame and does not require any drilling.
