Recommendation for a Fifth Wheel Hitch That Will Work With Reese Under-Bed Rail Kit.

Question:

I have Reese part number 30126 installed on my 2016 F250. My plan was to use the adapter kit 30156 to use my present sliding hitch. However it raises the hitch too high. What sliding hitchs can I use to lower the height of the hitch, other than the reese? ie: lower cost

We carry both the Demco Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550038 and the Curt Q24 Hitch with Slider # C16545-16020 that will fit you 2016 Ford F-350 with factory installed rail kit. These two hitches are a more cost effective option than the Reese slider hitch that fits your factory rails.

Of the two, I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoside over the Curt for a few of reasons. The Demco slider hitch has the autoslide design. You do not need to exit the vehicle to engage the slider. The slider engages automatically as you make your turns. The Demco hitch will give 14 inches of travel front to back to allow for the clearance needed to make turns with the short bed design of your Ford.

A second feature the Demco Hijacker multiple hitch height adjustments. The Demco Hijacker can be adjusted at 14-1/2, 16-3/4, and 18-1/4 inches in height. The Curt Q24 hitch height is between 17-21 inches. Since hitch height is a main issue, the Demco hitch has smaller hitch heights that might work better for your application.

Although the Demco Hijacker cost more that the Curt Q24, the Demco's hitch features overshadow the price difference between the Hijacker and Curt's Q series hitches.

I picked both the 21k Demco and 24k Curt hitchs for examples. Demco does offer a 18k Hijacker hitch # DM8550024 that has the same hitch height adjustments and slider travel as their 21k model Hijacker. Curt also offers a 16k # C16520-16020 and a 20k # C16530-16020 in the Q series 5th wheel silder hitches. The two Curt hitches have the same hitch heights as the Q24.
