Troubleshooting Horse Trailer Brakes that Lock Up when Trailer Connector is Connected
Question:
I have a nissan 2016 frontier with a C84VV curt controller and harness.I took it to Nissan and they said everything on truck is ok. I looked at your wiring chart but it is different than yours. When you look at the plug on the truck going clockwise i have black at 1oclock green at 3 blue at 5 white at7 yellow at 9 and brown at11.

To install the Curt Venturer part # C84VV in your 2016 Nissan Frontier requires the install harness part # C51382 which is a confirmed fit. In a lot of cases the wire colors don't always match up perfectly as sometimes the manufacturers will change wire colors or they use all-together non-standard colors but we know the harness mentioned is the correct one for your Frontier.
Since you have a horse trailer and the brakes are locking up I suspect the issue is related to the trailer connectors. There are two standard ways that a 6-way (what is typically seen on a horse trailer) can be wired and the only difference is that the 12 volt accessory and brake output circuit are swapped. I would be willing to bet you would just need to swap the brake output and 12 volt circuits and the brakes would stop locking up.
