Recommended Complete System for Flat Towing a 2016 Hyundai Accent
Question:
I just bought a 2016 Hyundai Accent and wanted to know if I could flat tow it. I will be using it for driveaway purposes so I wont just be driving RVs, if you could lead me in the right direction on what to buy I would really appreciate it.

Based on what I can find, if you have a manual transmission you can Flat Tow a 2016 Hyundai Accent. If you have an Automatic Transmission, it will need to be towed with a dolly. I'd recommend the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes - 4,250 lbs, # RM-2050-1, because it has some cool features like a deck platform that swivels 9 degrees for tight cornering. It includes all of the lighting and the 4 way connector, however a 7 way connector is required to activate the dolly's brakes, like the 7-way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box, # HS381-9000. I've included a video of the slightly larger model tow dolly to show you the similar features.
For a manual transmission 2016 Hyundai Accent, I'd recommend the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX2338. This base plate is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. This has removable arms for when you aren't flat towing.
If you don't already have tow bars, I would recommend the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar, # BX7420. This is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and the Blue Ox base plate I recommended. This bar has a 10,000 lb rating. This tow bar includes the safety cables you need. You may also need a high-low adapter to account for rise or drop needed to tow level. I've included a help article to assist.
To wire your 2016 Accent, I would go with the Roadmaster 6-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles with Separate Lighting, # 154-792-118158. This is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and will allow you to connect your Accent's lighting system to your RV's to get the brake lights and turn signals required for towing. Your Accent has separate brake and turn signals and this system accounts for that. This kit includes the wiring you need for a 4-way to 4-way connection, however if you have a 7-way at the RV, I'd suggest an adapter like # PK12716 .
For your braking system to flat tow, I would recommend the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System, # BLU37TR. This is a proportional system, that allows the brake pedal in the car to be depressed with the same intensity as the pedal in your RV. This unit uses a wireless, radio frequency remote controller that mounts in cab and plugs into a 12V outlet. This has a breakaway device included as well.
These parts will give you the complete system you need to flat tow your 2016 Hyundai Accent.
