How Do You Check a Relay To See If Working or Not?
Question:
How do you tell if a relay is blown? Where do you buy new relays if they are blown?
asked by: Sam J
Expert Reply:
To check a relay, first do a visual inspection of the terminals for signs of extreme heat or corrosion. Next do a visual inspection of where the relay plugs in for extreme heat or corrosion. Finally, the easiest and fastest way most people use to check a relay is simply to swap the relay with another functioning relay in the same box. You can also get a replacement relay from a local auto parts store to swap them out. If the function that wasn't working is working with the new relay, then the problem was the relay.
This is the quick, easy, inexpensive way to test a relay that anyone can do.
