Availability of Trailer-Mounted Battery Boxes

Question:

I am looking to add a second battery to my newly acquired 16foot Airstream. I would prefer a box that would hold both batteries, but rests in the frame/slot provided by the airstream trailer hitch. What product would you recommend? Thanks!!

It sounds like you are looking for a trailer battery box that mounts at the front of the trailer near the tongue and coupler (the coupler is what grips the hitch ball on the tow vehicle).

Battery boxes usually have some sort of ventilation, such as on the Tow-Rax Battery Box # TWSP12B which uses a clear plastic tube for this function.

You'll want to check the battery type number for your two batteries since many of these boxes fit only specific battery sizes. I linked our main page for battery boxes to show you all options.

Some customers have chosen to use a specialty Trailer Tongue Toolbox like # DZ91717P, which fits a-frame trailers, to hold their batteries. Since this is not the box's intended purpose some modifications will be necessary, including making ventilation holes to allow battery gases to exit.
You can refer to the linked video to see this box being installed.
