Does Trailer Frame have to be 36 Inches Wide to Install DeeZee Trailer Tongue Toolbox DZ91717P

Question:

The tool box is 36inch wide - is it essential that the trailer measures 36inch across? What would be the downside of centering the box on the trailer, and having 2-3inch on either side extending out over the bar on either side? So long as it is secured with the 4 bolts - - and looking at the instructions - I would be drilling the holes in the toolbox and the trailer. So, it seems that there is some latitude to make it fit. Correct?

The trailer does not have to match the dimensions of toolbox # DZ91717P. As long as you have the space somewhere to mount it you are good to go. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.
