Hole Spacing For An Adjustable Ball Mount 2 Inches on Center

Question:

Hi, the dimensions you give for the hole spacing on this part do not add up. You quote 3/4inch holes spaced 1 1/4inch apart, 2 1/2inch on center. The center of the 3/4inch holes would be 3/8, 3/8x2= 3/4+ 1 1/4= 2inch on center not 2 1/2inch on center. Please advise as Im looking for this part with holes @ 2inch o.c.. Thanks in advance

I see the confusion with the hole spacing and think I can clear it up. The holes are 3/4 inch and they are 2-1/2 inches apart on center. They are not 1-1/4 inches apart however, that is the adjustment increment based on the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Weight Distribution Shank for 2 inch Hitches,# AMAC1, this part is paired with. The actual metal spanning between the holes is 1-3/4 inches.

The only similarly styled adjustable ball mount I could find that has a 2 inch on center adjustment is the Roadmaster Adjustable Ball Mount # RM-880. It adjusts in 1 inch increments, which would give the hitch ball adjustment portion 2 inch on center pin holes. Unfortunately, this ball mount does not offer replacement pieces and it is not to be used for towing a trailer, but only for flat towing a vehicle.

If you are still looking to replace an adjustable ball mount, I can recommend a couple that adjust in 1 inch increments like the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ballmount # C45900. This puts the pins at 2 inches on center, but is an internal channel versus an external channel.
