If you only want to use the basic lighting functions provided by the 4-Way (left/right turn, brake, and running lights) then all you will need to do is plug the 4-Way end of the Adapter 4 pole top 6 pole, # A10-6034VP, into your vehicle 4-Way. The trailer 6-Way will then plug into the 6-Way receptacle on the adapter. You will also need to ground the white wire on the adapter to the vehicle frame at a clean and corrosion free metal surface. The remaining wires (blue for electric brakes and black for 12 volt power) can be taped up and stowed out of the way.

If you do need to use the other 2 wires, the blue wire will need to be routed under the vehicle using wire # 10-1-1 (sold in 1 foot increments) and attached to the blue wire on a brake controller. The black wire will need to be routed under the vehicle and attached to the positive battery terminal via a 40 amp circuit breaker, # PK54540. Or you can use duplex wire # 10-2-1 for both wires. I have included an FAQ article below that, in part, explains how to make the blue and black wire connections.

For the 6-Way on your trailer, we do not carry the small set screws for the connector. You may be able to find some at a hardware store. Since the screws are rusty, this could indicated that it is time to replace the connector. You could use the Pollak 6-Pole, Round Pin, Trailer Wiring Connector - Trailer End, # PK11604. I have included a video showing the replacement of a 6 pole.

Hi, I have the same set-up, have done all the above, and the lights still wont power on. I know all the lights function because the guy I just bought the pop-up from hooked up his SUV with his adaptor 7 flat and it worked fine. I can not for the life of me figure out what the problem is. Any ideas? We did just touch the ground to metal under the car and have not fully installed, but we certainly made a ground connection and still nothing. Please help! Thank you!

Simply touching the the eye to the metal frame will not necessarily provide a solid ground connection. We use self-tapping screws for this job so they cut into fresh steel that has not been exposed. Many vehicles are coated underneath and frames with surface ruset will both insulate a ground connection.
