Comparing Fulton XLT and Dutton Lainson 2 Speed Winch

Question:

Before purchasing one of these am looking for weaknesses/plusses. On the Fulton 2-spd, is the cover removable. Am thinking about need to lube gears. What about the spring that I assume activates the in-gear/out knob. Any issues there, or with the in-out pull handle mechanism? Unit will be used in a marine environment. On the D-L 2-speed, the removable handle mechanism is likely locked/released with some sort of spring. Any problems thereagain in a marine environment. I greatly look forward to advice as soon as is possible in order to place an order. Thanks,

The covers of the Fulton XLT part # F142425 are removable with a Torx head wrench. If you are looking for basically the nicest hand winch around this would be the winner. Our customers who have this winch all really like it so I know you will like it as well.

The Dutton Lainson part # DL15440 is also a great winch that will work well and may be a better winch for the money. But the XLT is easier to change the direction of the winch and has a protective casing which is also pretty sleek looking.

I attached review videos for both winches for you to check out as well.
