Troubleshooting Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller in 2016 Ram 3500
Question:
So I plugged in my P3 controller just to test it. It worked fine so I found out where I wanted to mount it. Ran the wire harness to the location mounted the brackets and plugged it in. Nothing. Controller wont light up like before. I checked the 30amp pink fuse under hood and it says still good. I have a 2016 Dodge Ram 3500 Crew Cab 4x4 Cummins turbo diesel. It has the integrated brake controller but that does not function properly with my 15K fifth wheel known Ram issue

If your Prodigy P3 # 90195 brake controller does not power up after you installed it in your center console and you know the fuse is good, then you might want to check the contacts on the wiring adapter # 3024-P that connects it to the under-dash port. It is possible that the harness may be extended a bit too much and that the contact is not completing the 12V power circuit.
You can test the unit for power-up by unplugging it from its current location and applying power and ground wires to the black and white wires, respectively. If the unit powers up then you know the issue is in the harness.
