Making Connections Under the Hood to Install a Brake Controller on a 2004 Chevy Silverado
Question:
Hi, The truck is factory wired. Inside the auxiliary fuse box under the hood there are 2 red wires with ring connectors. The ring connectors have different sized diameter holes in them that match the diameters of the posts, so its pretty apparent where they attach. There are 2 blue wires same color with male and female plug connectors on the ends that mate together. One of the plastic ends looks like it could accept a glass body cartridge type fuse, the other has a rubber O-ring seal on it. Should these be connected to one another to provide connection to the terminal block under the dash? If so, is a fuse needed?

Like you mentioned there are some connections that need to be made under the hood of your 2004 Chevy Silverado to make a brake controller and tow package wiring fully functional. This comes up a lot so we made a handy help article that covers the installation including the connections that need to be made under the hood. I have included a link to it for you.
Those 2 wires you mentioned that are together you would not splice them together if I am understand you correctly. One of the wires is power to the brake controller and the other is power to the 12 volt circuit for the 7-Way.
