Expert Reply:
A class I hitch typically has a 2,000 lb trailer weight capacity with tongue weight up to 200 lbs. If your trailer totally loaded is right at 1,400 lbs then a Class I hitch would be more than adequate.
For the 2016 BMW 428i Gran Coupe the Curt hitch part # C11367 is a confirmed fit with the capacities I mentioned so it would work well. You would need to check the owners manual of your vehicle to determine it's towing capacities and be sure not to exceed those either.
For trailer wiring you would need the part # 119250KIT which is a confirmed fit. For a ball mount # C45521. 2 inch ball part # A-82 or 1-7/8 inch ball part # A-80.
