Recommended Reasonably-Priced Canoe Carrier for 2012 Honda Odyssey w/ Bare Roof
Question:
We plan on transporting a canoe on our Honda Odyssey - we are looking for a secure inexpensive way to transport the canoe on the naked roof. Do you have any good suggestions? Thanks very much

The Malone canoe carrier you've looked at, part # MPG156 would be an excellent choice that's reasonably priced. The kit contains 4 foam blocks that slip over the gunwales of the canoe and protect the roof. Two straps for securing the canoe to the roof (run straps through car doors) and tie downs for the canoe's bow and stern are also included.
You might also be interested in anchor straps like # RRRBAS. You'd close the straps in the vehicle hood and rear hatch to provide an attachment point for the tie-down hooks, rather than hooking the metal hooks to the underside of the front and rear bumper and possibly scratching the vehicle's paint. The anchor hooks are sold individually.
