How to Lower Nose of 5th Wheel Trailer When Hitched
Question:
We just purchased a 16K Pro Line 5th wheel roller hitch. We have bilstein shocks and air bags. Our trailer is riding too high in front. Can we adjust the hitch to the hitch plate to the bottom bolt hole pattern to lower the hitch connection? It appears as though the holes in the actual hitch are not all drilled through. Need info ASAP. Thank You Kindly.

You can lower the nose of your 5th wheel trailer either by lowering the 5th wheel hitch to its lowest position and/or by raising the mounting position of the pin box on the trailer's mounting wings, provided that you do not already have it installed in this upper position. You can re-use the existing hardware. A pin box like # LC328492 has multiples mounting holes to allow flexibility in mounting it.
The other option is to raise the rear of the trailer by installing an axle over-under kit like # K71-384-00 for 2-3/8-inch axles or # K71-385-00 for 3-inch axles.
If you cannot use an over/under conversion kit then the only other way to raise the height of the trailer is to have the old suspension hangers cut off and new, taller ones welded on by a qualified professional welder. I have included a link to the hanger main page for you.
