Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for a 2016 Toyota RAV4
Question:
Tell Ron thanks for ideas and this is the set up were working with....The jazzy has a metal plate that is attached to bottom, there is a metal pole, that comes off the plate at a 90 degree angle male connection this connects into the female connection which is on an arm that lifts it up off ground, the arm attaches to a trailer hitch. This is a set up that Jays Dad got in Binghamton. It is wired into car battery to lift jazzy. We also have a metal platform lift that also connect to a trailer hitch, it is manual and is big and heavy and would be difficult for us to put on and take off. The people at Tims Triminch who r certified to do wheelchair lifts and hand controls etc said the RAV 4 tongue wgt and we checked it with Toyota is only 150 lbs. and both these set ups are more wgt than that. They said putting to much wgt on the hitch could bend the frame of the car. Appreciate if u have any thoughts / ideas about these. Have fun picking up your new car!!

Due to the lower tongue weight capacity of the 2016 RAV4 that you mentioned the only solution for you would be a small trailer. For a trailer hitch the Curt part # C13149 is a confirmed fit.
You might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
