What Trailer Hitches Can Yakima EXO Swing Away Cargo Carrier part # Y62VR be Used In

Question:

Hello, I have a 2 inch receiver, on a class II package, capable of 3,500 towing and 350lb on the tongue. I understand this is an unusual setup. I am looking to purchase theYakima EXO swing away hitch cargo box. On Rolas website they only mention that a 2 inch receiver is required, however, here you mention a class III package is also needed. My question is: Can I use my two inch receiver with my class II package, install the Yakima EXO cargo carrier and just keep the combined weight of the cargo box 97lbs and its contents under the 350lbs weight capacity of my tow packages tongue? Thank you much.

Class II hitches have 1-1/4" receivers. If you have a 2" hitch, then it has to be a class III or above.

All that really matters when using the Yakima EXO Swing Away Cargo Carrier part # Y62VR is that you install it in a 2 inch trailer hitch and that the hitch and vehicle have the needed capacity to carry the carrier plus cargo. You cannot use a 2" ADAPTER in a 1-1/4" hitch and use a swing Away Carrier.

This carrier weighs in right at 97 lbs so you would have up to 100 lbs of cargo weight you could carry.

You would also have to make sure that the distance from the hitch pin hole on your hitch to the outside edge of your bumper is less that 4-1/2 inches so the carrier would actually fit on your car.
