What are the Torque Specs for a Trailer that Used Wheel Bolts Instead of Lug Nuts

Question:

Hi, Ive got a trailer with 8 inch wheels on it 4.80-8 and it has bolts to secure the wheels, not lug nuts. The bolts have a 3/4 inch head on them and they are in a 4 bolt pattern on the hub. Im unsure of what torque to apply to theses bolts and cannot find any torque for them when I search the internet. Thanks

I spoke with our resident tire and wheel expert and he said that for wheel bolts you will just follow the same torque specs as you would for a lug nut of the same size. Take a look at the chart I have included with lug nut torque specs. Based on your hub, tire, and wheel sizes you likely have 1/2 inch wheel bolts. For 1/2 inch torque them to 75-85 foot pounds. If they are not 1/2 inch then follow the included chart.
