How to Wire a Itasca Navicon Motorhome with Valley 7-Way Wiring for Flat Towing a Jeep

Question:

I have an Itasca Navion motorhome with a 2006 Dodge Sprinter 3500 chassis. The vehicle has separate brake and turn signal lights, and a Valley Industries towing package installed with a 7-wire connector. I intend to tow a Jeep Wrangler that has combined tail/stop lights, a 4-wire setup including ground. Ive been told that I need a 5-wire to 4-wire tail light converter to properly match the Navion and Jeeps lights. This part seems like it may do the same thing? Once plugged into the Navions wiring harness behind the bumper, drivers side, will part # 118381 replace the existing 7-wire connector on the Navion and allow me to connect to the four pin connector on my Jeep? Does it have a built in tail light converter?

Part # 118381 does not have a converter built in. Parts are tricky to select when dealing with motorhomes built off of production chassis. Itasca may have had a certain number of chassis built by Dodge with different wiring for their purposes. The parts we carry like 118381 are designed to be used with the production models sold at dealerships.

Fotrunately for you, Itasca teamed up with Valley and have provided you with a 7-Way connector and what ever converting needed to be done has already been established. All you need is a simple plug-in adapter to bring your 7-Way down to a 4-Pole, like part # 37385. That way you do not have to disconnect your 7-Way or mess with the wiring.

If you have a 4-Way round connector, let me know and we will need to take a different approach.
