Yes, you can tow a small pop-up camper with your 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT1, as long as the camper does not weigh more than 3,500 lbs. loaded.
But, you will always want to check the owners manual or with the dealer for the gross towing weight capacity of your 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT1 to make sure the towing capacity is not exceeded.
The Curt 1-1/4 Inch Class II Hitch, # C12225, would be a recommended hitch for your vehicle. It is a Class II hitch which has a 3,500 lbs. towing weight capacity and a 300 lbs. tongue weight capacity.
I recommend the Class II hitch over a Class I hitch because it will give you a higher towing weight capacity and it will also allow a wider selection of hitch accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers.
You will also need the Draw-Tite Class II Ball Mount, # 36065, which includes the pin and clip. The Tow Ready 2 Inch Hitch Ball, # 19258, and the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness, # 56076.
The wiring harness will plug into the factory connectors located under the trunk liner in the rear cargo area. The wiring harness will provide a 4-pole trailer connector at the rear of your vehicle to plug into your pop-up camper.
I am sending a link to the installation instructions on the trailer hitch.
