Does Suspension Enhancement Being Installed on Vehicle Change Weight Distribution Settings
Question:
I have a 2015 Jeep grand Cherokee without the rear booster shocks. I am towing a 2016 25inch Apex weighing 4800 lbs. I have a Fastway e2 And Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution hitch. It tows fine bu in order to get the bars on I need to lift the vehicle so high that the left rear wheel comes off the ground. If I were to add air shocks to help kke the rear up would I need to readjust the hitch? And would this help to keep from lifting the car so high? Thanks,

You certainly are using quite a bit of spring bar tension on your Fastway e2 system if you end having to jack the rear end of the car off the ground to get the bars connected. Are you sure you don't need a higher rated system? It's possible you are just maxing out what you have currently and that is why the bars have to have so much tension in them.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
If you went and put rear suspension enhancement on your vehicle you would need to readjust your spring bar tension. You would end up not needing quite as much. You would want to first set up the suspension enhancement and then set up the weight distribution.
