Can Square Axle Trailer Have Axle Moved Below Leaf Spring

Question:

I have an old model gooseneck trailer with the neck lowered all the way the trailer rides low in the back. It has square straight axles that sit on top of the leaf springs. Can I move the axle to under the leaf spring and change the 15inch split rim wheels and tires to 16?

Moving your axles below the leaf springs will certainly give you additional height on your trailer. I can also tell by the picture that you have plenty of room between the tires to go with a taller wheel/tire setup as well.

Since you have square axles that don't have a spring seat it would be just a matter of moving the axle below the leaf spring and having the u-bolts face the opposite direction.

To pick out new wheels and tires would require knowing what bolt pattern you have on your current wheels to match the new wheels to your current hub. Also, knowing what tire size you have know would be helpful as well.
