Is there a Brake controller Install Port Under Dash of 2009 Mercedes Benz GL 450
Question:
Hi there. I have a 2009 MBZ GL450 with a factory tow kit installed. Has a 7 pin wiring in back, with trailer brake pin labeled. I need a brake controller and keep reading I should find a 4 pin brake controller that looks like the plugs on the controllers you sell under the dash. i have not torn apart, but am not seeing it. Is this true? If so where is it. If not, what do I need to buy to get trailer brake control. your site directs me to a controller and then a wiring upgrade from 4 pin to 7 pin - i know I dont need that. please direct me. thanks!@

On your 2009 Mercedes Benz GL450 there is a brake controller install port, but it is actually at the rear of the vehicle near the rear SAM. I attached a picture that shows the connector and the color codes for the wires of the connector.
We have found that it's just easier to hardwire the controller in vehicles like yours since the connections for the controller aren't convenient. But if you wanted, you could still use the connector.
I attached a help article on hardwiring brake controllers as well.
