Folding Hitch Cargo Carrier Recommendation for a 2014 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
I have a 2014 Jeep Wrangler and Im looking for a light weight folding cargo rack that will clear the spare tire folded and allow for tailgate to open when down. Can a 2inch hitch adapter be used with this? My Wrangler has a 3inch lift so ground clearance isnt an issue for me. Tks!!

The Curt trailer hitch mount cargo carrier # e98874 will fit in a 2 inch receiver opening. To make sure the carrier clears the spare tire on your 2014 Jeep Wrangler you will need to take one measurement. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole straight back to the distance required to clear the spare tire. I have included a link to an article that shows how to do this.
If your measurement is less than 9-1/2" the carrier will fit when folded up or down. I am sure when folded down it will not be an issue but just to be sure if the measurement you get is less than 19-1/2" the carrier will fit when folded down. I have linked a video review of this carrier for you.
For a hitch extender that would give you an additional 7 inches you would want the part # HE06. You should note that using an extender does cut the capacity of the hitch on the Wrangler in half.
