How To Re-Install Tensions Plate In The Leg Of Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch With Round Tube Slider
Question:
I pulled my handle to move the hitch from tow to maneuver and i guess you would call it a flat tensioner popped out of the base. How do I get this back in? Its not the spring for the jaws.

I called my contact at Reese and asked about the tension plate that came out when you were using your fifth wheel.
Another Expert and I went to our showroom and took a 16K Reese fifth wheel like your # RP30075 apart to see how the plate can be removed and re-installed. You obviously do not need to know how to remove it so to re-install it you will need to move the handle all the way rearward so it allows the plate to be installed with less tension. Insert the plate in the slot on the back of the leg and tap it with a hammer so that it goes over the yellow neoprene roller and then under the pin inside the leg. We had a tough time with this and I recommend enlisting additional help. Someone will need a long screwdriver or rod to push down on the back of the plate through the hole in the top of the leg while someone taps the front of the plate with a hammer. It took us a couple of attempts and we had to move the handle a bit to make sure we have the clearance for the plate.
