Does Just Sway Control Bar have to be Removed to Back Up with Pro Series Weight Distribution
Question:
I noticed that this unit says backing not allowed. My question is do you need to remove only the sway system or the weight distribution bars when backing the trailer?

You would only need disengage/remove the sway control bar to be able to back up when using Pro Series weight distribution system # 49570 with friction sway control bar # 83660. If you were backing up in a straight line and not turning you can keep it on.
For not much more money you could use Fastway system # FA94-00-1061 which is also rated for 1,000 pounds tongue weight and comes with built-in sway control. With it you would not have to disengage the sway control when backing up in any situation (turning or not).
I have included some links on weight distribution and determining tongue weight for you.
