Replacement Electric Landing Gear Recommendation for a 2006 Keystone Raptor

Question:

Hello, I have a 2006 Keystone Raptor 5th wheel [39 ft] that weighs approximately 15k lbs. Do you know what size the stock landing gear is [5k, 6k, 8k, etc.]?What size replacement landing gear do you recommend? I was told that the Lippert 6k lb system is rated for 7k lb but that doesnt seem right. Can you advise? Thanks,

Expert Reply:

You most likely have Lippert 6k landing gear like the powered set part # LC333964 that is also 6k rated. Landing gear is rated for lifting capacity and not for overall trailer capacity. So the landing gear on your trailer could very easily be rated at 6k since most of the weight of the trailer will be over the wheels and not the jack.

If you want a higher rated option, you can use the Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear Set # RP500708 or the Ultra-Fab # UF17-943010.
