Towing a Boat Trailer and Using a Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier at the Same Time
Question:
Can you recommend a hitch mount carrier that retains the capability to tow while in place? Do these come with a classIII receiver? I tow a boat and would like to have the storage between the tow vehicle and boat trailer.

Your best option would be to use the Curt multipurpose ball mount # D210. You would use the ball mount part to tow and the receiver part for a cargo carrier. This will work provided that the combined weight of the trailer tongue weight, cargo carrier, and cargo on the carrier does not exceed 750 pounds.
For a carrier I recommend something that has a rise in the shank and that is light weight such as the Curt carrier # C18110. It weighs about 30 pounds and has a slight rise in the shank so the trailer will be able to pivot without hitting the carrier.
Cargo carriers do not have the ability to insert a ball mount in order to tow a trailer so a mount such as the D210 would be needed.
