Recommended Rear Suspension and Parts Needed for Truck Bed Camper on a 2008 Toyota Tundra 8ft Bed

Question:

Good morning, I have a 2008 Toyota Tundra Limited, with a 6 inch rough country lift. I run Duratrac tires which are 325/65R18 35 inches tall. I am interested in purchasing a box camper because I do alot of fishing far away in my 166 inch boat. I know my truck will need some help in the rear end and dont want to add a leaf. I'm not sure the cab length, the box is 6.5 feet, overall length is 19'. Factory trailer hitch and yes running boards full length of cab... I am interested in your products, but I am unfamiliar with all the aspects and would want the best setup for ride comfort and most importantly maintain the condition of my truck and not ruin anything with the added weight in the box. Recommendation would be greatly appreciated in terms of your products, what kind is best suited for me, what kind of tie downs should I be buying, what max weight of a camper should I buy, as long as any other details that I am unaware or never put much thought into. I hope your experience can assist me for what id like to achieve. Gvwr is 6900-7200 Boat weight is around 1000 Tow weight roughly 2000 is what the site says not sure if that one makes sense My neighbor has a camper that weights 1300 lbs which I may buy... There are so many different options airbags, timbren, super springs. I hope to hear from you asap, so I can install whatever I need...my main concern is dealing with the weight tie down and that can be resolved later Thanks in advance

I can help you outfit your 2008 Toyota Tundra Limited for your camper.

To help with the rear sag of the Tundra, I recommend the RoadActive Suspension # RAS4611TD, because of its adjustability and low maintenance. This kit is compatible with 4 wheel and 2 wheel drive models.

There are a couple components you will need for your truck camper to mount to your truck properly one of those components will be Frame Mounted Tie-Downs. The TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs for your truck with a factory hitch and 6-1/2 foot bed are the front # TLT2304 and rear # TLT3304. These will be compatible with your running boards that only span the width of the truck cab.

To secure your camper to your truck you will need Torklift Turnbuckles. I recommend the Locking FastGun Stainless Steel # TLS9526-2-LK turnbuckles. With these FastGun turnbuckles you won't have to manually tighten them like standard turnbuckles.

Something you may want to consider is that depending on the setup of the camper you may need extra room at the back of your vehicle to hitch up your trailer. I recommend an extra long ball mount like # EBMK2EL because it will not reduce the weight capacity of your hitch like a hitch extender will.

I have linked all the above mentioned products to this page as well as a few installation videos for your convenience.
