Tread Wear on Just the Outer Tread of ST225/75-15R Tires on a Jayco Trailer

Question:

I have aluminum 6 on 5 1/2 rims that came with the Jayco trailer. Can I put load range E instead of the load range d that came with the trailer on the same rim? I am keeping the trailer load the same, but noticed that my load range d tires are wearing on the out edges even when I keep the tire pressure at max of 60psi. Thanks.

Tire wear just on the outer tread of the tires can indicate that the load on the trailer is too light to fully straighten out the axle. Trailer axles have a bow in them and when weight is put on them they will straighten out. Switching to higher capacity tires will not solve the issue.

If it is happening just on one side then the issue could be a worn suspension component and you would want to check the suspension for wear and tear and replace parts as needed.

If you did want to go to a load range E tire in size ST225/75-15 you could by using # AM10303.
